Meg Whalen was born in Michigan, but grew up in Florida near the ocean. She has always enjoyed drawing and had a comic strip when she was a girl, but it wasn't until much later that she decided to pursue a career in children's books. After converting to Catholicism, Meg moved to Colorado to study theology at the Augustine Institute and to train in illustration at Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design. She resides in Denver with her husband, Danny. Check out her own webpage.

How do you supply a hungry, young reader with enough books? It's hard! Especially when there was no modern fiction with a kid from a Catholic family - you know, the kind - with pesky little siblings, noisy dinners, and family prayer time. Emily Grace Ortega created the character Bernadette when her oldest daughter began to read. Now young, Catholic readers can have a fun, relatable character from a family like theirs!
